According to Enquirer, Less than two months before she was killed, Fairfield police had been to the home of Cincinnati attorney Margaret Allen to investigate a domestic violence situation, according to a police report.

Fairfield police also were called to Allen's Whitmore Lane home in July 2005 to check out a 911 hang-up call, Fairfield Lt. Ken Colburn said this morning.

Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens confirmed Tuesday that a body found dumped in the woods near Schmidt Field in the East End Sunday was Allen.

Her death has been ruled a homicide. However, Owens would not specify how she died so as not to compromise the police investigation.

Owens used dental records to identify the 37-year-old woman. Her body was badly decomposed from the heat, he said.

The 911 call on May 4 at 8:30 p.m. was made by Allen's niece, Colburn said.

The niece, 11, told police her aunt was being assaulted by a household member, an incident report states. The girl said she heard her aunt scream and her live-in uncle sped off in a black car.

"She thinks her aunt may be hurt but is scared to go downstairs and check on her," the report reads.

Allen broke her ankle during that incident, but Colburn said she told police she had “stepped backward and tripped over a bike that was in the garage.”

Although Allen's body was found in Cincinnati, Fairfield police have taken over the death investigation. Allen lived at 4503 Whitmore Lane in Fairfield. Police so far have not discussed more details, have not reported any arrests, nor named a suspect.

Local attorneys were shocked Tuesday as word spread through the Hamilton County Courthouse, that the victim could be Allen.

Attorney Rodney Harris, who knew Allen since junior high and shared a law office with her, said it has been a tough two days.

"It the craziest thing you can ever imagine," Harris said. "As much as you don't want to believe it, it's true." He called Allen a loving and thoughtful person. Click here read full details of this tragic loss.
