This year, however, funds raised will be used to support our most vital asset in this community – our youth. All events will be held at Miami University of Middletown in various areas of the campus. Tickets are currently on sale and available for purchase at the event website www.celebrityweekend.co.nr
The weekend-long festivities will feature live entertainment and for the first time, several celebrities will be in attendance to assist the chapter with fundraising efforts. The 2008 Freedom Fund Celebrity Weekend will culminate in the special closing night Gala, which will include a silent and live auction, dinner, photo opportunities and gift bags to selected guests, speakers and celebrities.
"I think this year stands to take the Middletown Area NAACP's Freedom Fund to a different level,” says President of the Middletown Area NAACP, Anita Scott Jones. “Although we are not a big city, this event will have a big-city feel and will allow Middletown to be seen in a positive light by others. This year we are thinking out of the box with location, entertainment and the speaker. I am pleased to be a part of this new movement to include youth, seniors and all those in between while we continue to promote the educational, social, political, and economic rights of all people.”
"We're thrilled to have an amazing artist like “Babyface” sign on as honorary chair for this year's festivities," said CulPatrice Foster, Event Coordinator of the Freedom Fund Celebrity Weekend. "The exciting lineup of celebrity and local talent rounds out our mission to raise funds and awareness for area youth programs as well as allows the local chapter to function throughout the year.”
"I am honored to have been selected as the National Honorary Chair for this year’s NAACP Middletown event,” Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds shared. “I believe in the NAACP and without question support great programs that educate and empower today's youth in every community. For this reason, I openly and humbly accepted this invitation to serve the NAACP."
The event is still seeking marquis sponsorship from several area and national companies who have continued to support throughout the history of the chapter as well as attract new sponsor organizations that may not have been active in past events.

According to Enquirer, Less than two months before she was killed, Fairfield police had been to the home of Cincinnati attorney Margaret Allen to investigate a domestic violence situation, according to a police report.
Fairfield police also were called to Allen's Whitmore Lane home in July 2005 to check out a 911 hang-up call, Fairfield Lt. Ken Colburn said this morning.
Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens confirmed Tuesday that a body found dumped in the woods near Schmidt Field in the East End Sunday was Allen.
Her death has been ruled a homicide. However, Owens would not specify how she died so as not to compromise the police investigation.
Owens used dental records to identify the 37-year-old woman. Her body was badly decomposed from the heat, he said.
The 911 call on May 4 at 8:30 p.m. was made by Allen's niece, Colburn said.
The niece, 11, told police her aunt was being assaulted by a household member, an incident report states. The girl said she heard her aunt scream and her live-in uncle sped off in a black car.
"She thinks her aunt may be hurt but is scared to go downstairs and check on her," the report reads.
Allen broke her ankle during that incident, but Colburn said she told police she had “stepped backward and tripped over a bike that was in the garage.”
Although Allen's body was found in Cincinnati, Fairfield police have taken over the death investigation. Allen lived at 4503 Whitmore Lane in Fairfield. Police so far have not discussed more details, have not reported any arrests, nor named a suspect.
Local attorneys were shocked Tuesday as word spread through the Hamilton County Courthouse, that the victim could be Allen.
Attorney Rodney Harris, who knew Allen since junior high and shared a law office with her, said it has been a tough two days.
"It the craziest thing you can ever imagine," Harris said. "As much as you don't want to believe it, it's true." He called Allen a loving and thoughtful person. Click here read full details of this tragic loss.

According to WalletPOP, You'd think a guy pictured often with the likes of Paris Hilton would keep a hand on his wallet. But Scott Storch, a 34-year-old hip-hop music producer who helped launched the career of Christina Aguilera and Beyonce, and is seen around town with socialites like HIlton, is the latest entertainment name to fall into foreclosure.
Storch, who Palm Beach Post columnist Jose Lambiet estimates was worth $70 million as late as last year, is losing his $10 million Miami Beach home to SunTrust Bank. Besides owing a year's back mortgage on the 10-bedroom, 16-bath mansion, Storch also owes the electric company and a security company. Storch also had his Ferrari Scaglietti and his prized motorcycle, a Bones Bike, repossessed. So much for the high life.

According to CNN, two of the children of one of the most prominent figures of the 20th century, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are suing their brother, Dexter King, over allegations that he has illegally taken money from their father’s estate and used it for his own benefit.
The allegations do not stop there, as Martin Luther King III and Bernice King are also suing their brother over the fact that they claim he has also illegally taken money from the estate of their mother and used it for his own benefit.
The lawsuit that was filed states that Dexter King makes all decisions regarding the estate of his father. It also illustrates how Martin Luther King III and Bernice are shareholders of their father’s estate while Bernice is the sole administrator of their mother’s estate.
Their parents tragically passed away nearly 40 years apart, with King, Jr.’s infamous assassination occurring back in 1968, while their mother, Coretta Scott King, passed away in 2006.
